A single barrel rye from Catoctin Creek in Virginia, bottled at 46%. Becky Harris chooses the barrels for this Distiller's Edition, and only one in ten goes into it. The regular Roundstone Rye is bottled at 40%.
The mash is 100% locally sourced, organically grown rye, and everything from mashing to maturation takes place at the distillery. The small-batch spirit matures in new charred American oak. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose has sweet pastry, honey and butter toffee, with a sharp lemon note. The palate brings confectionery sweetness with vanilla, cocoa, hazelnut, maple sugar and mocha, and cinnamon and clove set against lemon zest. The finish is medium in length, with lemon peel and nutmeg.
