This is a single cask Chichibu from Japan, matured for nine years in a second-fill bourbon barrel. It was twice distilled in 2014 from Propino barley and bottled in 2023 at its cask strength of 61.9%. The barrel gave 177 bottles, and the whisky is not chill-filtered or coloured.
It belongs to the New Vibrations series from La Maison du Whisky, whose design is by Katsumi Komagata.
The nose shows tinned peach, grapefruit, verbena, vanilla cream and coconut. The palate opens with honey and a mineral, slightly salty note, then vanilla cream and malted grain. The finish is long, with aniseed, pepper, honey and vanilla, then baked apple, cocoa, mint and pine honey.
