Chichibu 2016 Foundations is a single malt from Chichibu Distillery in Saitama Prefecture, founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto. Distilled in 2016, it matured for eight years in a Bordeaux red wine cask, number 14044, and was bottled as a limited release of 268 bottles. It is bottled at a cask strength of 65.5% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour. The nose shows dark berries and red grapes, with subtle wood and a touch of vanilla. The palate is complex and intense, with ripe fruit and spice, plus a gentle spiciness from the Bordeaux cask. The finish is long and warm, balancing fruit and cask character.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
