A single cask Chichibu from Japan, distilled in 2016 and matured for seven years in a single second fill sherry hogshead made from Spanish oak. It was bottled in 2023 by La Maison du Whisky for its New Vibrations series, which brings together Chichibu single casks made with different barley types and cask profiles. The label design is by the Japanese artist and graphic designer Katsumi Komagata.
Bottled at a cask strength of 63.1% in a 70cl bottle, it is non-chill-filtered and free of added colour. The outturn was 289 bottles.
The nose is full of ripe fruit, raisins and dark fruit, with sweet spice and fine oak. The palate is full and powerful, sweet and spicy, and the finish is long, warm and spicy.
