Chichibu – 2018 6 Year Old Cask 9197 First Fill Bourbon Barrel (Adelphi) (70cl, 56.1%)

This Chichibu was distilled in 2018 and bottled at six years old by Adelphi, at 56.1% in a 70cl bottle. It comes from cask 9197, a first-fill bourbon barrel that produced 210 bottles. Chichibu is the Japanese distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama. This bottling has a Riesling-gold colour. The nose is fresh and fragrant, with green grape, lemongrass, pink grapefruit, kiwi and orange blossom, plus Turkish delight and lemon meringue pie. On the palate there is zesty lemon, white rose petal, vanilla latte, sandalwood and nutmeg. The finish is smooth and enveloping, with a slightly oily texture.
