Chichibu – Intergalactic Series 5 (70cl, 62.3%)

Chichibu Intergalactic Series 5 is a Japanese single malt from the Chichibu distillery, bottled at cask strength, 62.3%, in a 70cl bottle. The Intergalactic series began in 2019 with an idea from the Dutch bar owner Werry van Leeuwen, who wanted retro sci-fi illustrations on the labels. Editions 5 and 6 followed in 2020, illustrated by the artist Mr. Kalopsia. The nose is soft nougat chocolate and plenty of fruit, with melon, tarte tatin and a little coconut. The palate is tropical fruit punch, with papaya and juicy cavaillon melon. The finish brings a few red peppercorns, and water adds peach.
