Chichibu – Intergalactic Series 6 (70cl, 63.6%)

Chichibu Intergalactic Series 6 is a Japanese single malt from the Chichibu distillery, bottled at 63.6% in a 70cl bottle. The Intergalactic series began in 2019, after Dutch bar owner Werry van Leeuwen suggested dressing Chichibu whisky in retro science-fiction illustrations. Editions 5 and 6 followed in 2020, with artwork by designer Mr. Kalopsia. The nose combines soft leather with juicy melon and plenty of peach, alongside savoury, salty notes of pretzels and salted caramel toffee. On the palate there is some smoke, berries and almonds in a speculoos biscuit. The finish is tart, with lime peel and tea, which a splash of water brings out.
