Chichibu – Intergalactic Series Edition 5 (70cl, 62%)

Chichibu Intergalactic Series Edition 5 is a Japanese whisky bottled at cask strength, 62%, in a 70cl bottle. The series began in 2019 with Dutch bar owner Werry van Leeuwen, who had the idea of dressing Chichibu whisky in retro science-fiction artwork. Recent editions are a collaboration with the artist Mr. Kalopsia, known for astronaut and space designs. Editions 5 and 6 include one made exclusively for Austria, with casks chosen by whisky experts. The nose is soft nougat chocolate and very ripe fruit, with melon, tarte tatin and coconut like a wafer once it has breathed. The palate is tropical fruit punch with papaya and juicy Cavaillon melon, and the finish has a few red peppercorns. Water brings out peach.
