Chichibu On the Way Floor Malted 2024 is a Japanese single malt, bottled at 54.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration or colouring. The release is limited to 12,000 bottles.
It is made from 100% floor-malted barley, a process Chichibu introduced in 2008, and blends whiskies aged between 9 and 15 years. They were matured in a mix of casks: bourbon, sherry puncheons, mizunara hogsheads, wine casks and chibidaru, the distillery's small casks.
The nose offers white peach, honey, pre-toasted bread and a hint of mint. Peach and pear follow on the palate, with a maple syrup mouthfeel, and the finish is long and sweetly fruity.
