This is a Japanese blended malt in a 70cl bottle at 46.5% ABV. It combines pure malts from the Hanyu distillery with whisky matured in French oak, and was vatted and bottled at Chichibu. The name links Chichibu, the future, with Hanyu, the past.
It was matured in Pinot Noir red wine casks from France and Japan, which give it a distinctive red colour, along with sweet fruit, chocolate and tannins.
The nose opens with strong red wine and oak, then more fruit and berries, dark chocolate and some orange. The palate is woody and spicy, with a little pepper, nuts, chocolate and red fruit. The finish is fairly long and malty, with paprika and soft wood.
