Chicken Cock Cotton Club is a Canadian rye whiskey aged for 20 years in a used bourbon barrel. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 75cl bottle, from a mash bill of 90% rye and 10% malted barley.
The brand was established in Paris, Kentucky in 1856 and moved production to Canada during Prohibition. The rye made there was smuggled back into the United States in tin cans, and this release comes in a replica tin canister that recalls that period.
The nose is sweet candy with grassy rye, earthy notes, orange peel and white pepper. Vanilla, spice and molasses lead the palate, and the long finish balances pepper, spice and sweetness with a buttery texture.
