Chicken Cock Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (70cl, 45%)

This is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Chicken Cock, made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It is distilled in Kentucky by Bardstown Bourbon Company, matured for at least two years and bottled at 45% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour. The casks are prepared with a medium-plus toast and a level 3 char. The nose combines apple and citrus with toasted oak, cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate are pear, peach and vanilla alongside honey, creamy butterscotch and rye spice, with green mint, pepper and a slight dryness. The very long finish fades slowly with pepper, a touch of honey sweetness and a buttery feel.
