Churchill's Crusted Port

Churchill's Crusted Port is a blend of vintage port wines from two consecutive years, bottled unfiltered after six months in oak to help the sediment form. It is best thought of as vintage port at an earlier stage. It then rests at least three years in the Churchill's cellar before release, which softens the tannins. The year on the label is the year of bottling. The bottle should be stored on its side and decanted before serving, so the crust stays undisturbed. Dark cherry in colour, it has a complex nose of blackberry with a mineral undertone. The palate is fresh and well balanced with good grip, ending in a tannic finish.
