Churchill's Quinta da Gricha 2003 Vintage Port

This is a 2003 Vintage Port from Churchill's, made entirely from grapes grown at Quinta da Gricha. The estate sits on the south bank of the Douro between Pinhão and Tua, with about 40 hectares of vines facing gently north at 150 to 400 metres. The oldest vines are more than 70 years old, and the grapes were trodden by foot in old tanks. The colour is very dark, almost black. The nose shows crushed blueberries with an undertone of fig. The palate is full and complex, with juicy blueberry, hints of cedar and spice, and a finish marked by natural acidity and firm tannin.
