This is an Ardmore single malt from the Highlands, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2021 at 11 years old for Claxton's Exploration Series. It was matured in a bourbon hogshead and finished in an STR barrique, and bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whole cask was bottled exclusively for the Dutch market. Peat and wood do not dominate here, and the aromas are sweetly peated.
The nose is restrained and sweet, with charred wood and milk chocolate. The palate has sweet peat smoke, mint, white chocolate and white spices. The finish is long and rich, warming and spicy, with roasted nuts and a tingle.
