This Linkwood from Speyside was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021 at 50% ABV, as part of Claxton's Exploration Series. It is 12 years old and comes in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent its first years in a bourbon hogshead before a finish in an Oloroso sherry quarter cask.
The nose is of rich chocolate cream liqueur, light sherry tones and a slightly oily weight, with a hint of banana. The palate brings a lightly meaty sweetness, strong coffee, butterscotch chocolate liqueur and nutmeg. The finish is rich, round and warming, with coffee bitters and walnuts.
