This is a 12 year old Tormore single malt from Speyside, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021 at 50% ABV for Claxton's Exploration Series. It was matured in a bourbon barrel.
Tormore is one of the younger distilleries in the region, founded in 1958 and owned by Pernod Ricard since 2005.
The nose is soft, with apfelkorn, hazelnut, yellow apples, butter and yellow Fruittella sweets. The palate is full and mouth-filling, with hazelnut bitters, yellow preserved fruit, citrus bitters and mint sweets, before a sweet, spicy wave settles at the back of the mouth. The finish is firm and mint-led, with citrus bitters and sweet liquorice.
