Clos Martin XO 15 Year Old is a Bas-Armagnac from Gascony, matured for a minimum of fifteen years in oak. That is well beyond the six years the XO designation requires.
The estate builds it on a blend of Baco and Ugni Blanc, and the long maturation is aimed at roundness, mellowness and an approachable, fruit-led character.
On the nose there are dried plums, light toffee and vanilla. The palate opens with dry, oaky tannins and a little spice, then moves to stewed fruits, cigar box, almonds, prunes and coffee beans, ending in a juicy, plum-like softness.
