A 14-year-old Highland single malt from Clynelish, the distillery near Brora, bottled at 46%. It was matured mainly in first-fill and refill American oak hogsheads, with some refill ex-sherry casks in the vatting.
The distillery's spirit stills are larger than its wash stills, and fermentation runs for about 55 hours. This bottling won a Gold medal at the 2020 International Wine & Spirit Competition.
The nose has light woodsmoke, tangerine, lime peel and lavender over a note of brine. Ginger and fresh orange lead the palate, followed by dry oak and vanilla. The finish is fairly long, with charred oak, bitter orange peel, raisins and a hint of seaweed.
