Coleburn Local Heros Sweet Peat Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 46%)

This is Sweet Peat, a blended malt from the Local Heros series, which also includes Sherry Bomb and Big Smoke. It is Batch 0001, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The distilleries behind the malts are not named. It is bottled at the historic Coleburn site in Speyside. The original Coleburn Distillery was founded in 1897 and closed in 1985. Brothers Dale and Mark Winchester bought the buildings in 2004 and are now reviving the site. The nose has caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, plum pudding and toffee beneath gentle smoke. The palate brings marshmallow, fudge, honey, pear drops and ripe banana, with a hint of tobacco. The finish is long, sweet and smoky.
