Combier Liqueur de Châtaigne is a French chestnut liqueur from Saumur in the Loire Valley. Produced by Combier, founded in 1834, it is made by macerating chestnuts in neutral spirit and balancing the result with sugar. The liqueur is rich and rounded, with toasted chestnut, brown sugar, caramel and baking spice character.
Nose: toasted chestnut, brown sugar, crème brûlée, roasted almond, vanilla, maple and mild baking spice. Palate: roasted chestnut, caramelised sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and a gentle citrus zest lift. Finish: toasted chestnut, maple sweetness and spice, tapering to a clean, lightly dry close.
