Compass Box Brûlée Royale is a limited-edition blended malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 49% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It is inspired by François Massialot, the 17th-century chef at Versailles credited with the first crème brûlée recipe, and aims to taste like the dessert.
The blend is Benrinnes (53.3%) from first-fill bourbon barrels, Clynelish (39%) from second-fill new American oak, Speyburn (7.2%) from refill American oak hogsheads and 0.5% Ardbeg from recharred American oak. It was bottled in August 2025, non-chill filtered and with natural colour, and 8,556 bottles were made.
The nose is crème brûlée, poached pears and vanilla pods, and the palate is clotted cream, honeyed malt and broiled peaches with gentle nutmeg spice.
