Glasgow Blend is a blended Scotch whisky from Compass Box, first released in 2014 and bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. Around 65% of the blend is Highland and Islay malt, with Lowland grain whisky added.
The component whiskies mature in ex-sherry butts, American oak barrels and hogsheads, as well as custom-made French oak casks. Compass Box founder John Glaser was the whisky maker responsible for the blend.
The nose brings smoke and sea breeze with sweet hay, gardenia and smoked meat. On the palate it is full and smoky, with fruitcake, sherry sweetness, spice, red fruit, vanilla and honeysuckle. The short finish carries smoke, charred oak, peppered dried meat and salty sea air.
