Compass Box Metropolis is a limited-edition blended Scotch bottled at 49% in a 700ml bottle, with about 5,190 bottles produced. It belongs to the Extinct Blends Quartet, in which John Glaser reimagines a discontinued blend. It is bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration.
The blend combines blended malt from a refill sherry butt, Aberlour from re-charred American oak, blended grain from refill bourbon barrels, Miltonduff and Bowmore from bourbon barrels, and a blended Scotch aged mainly in first-fill bourbon wood.
The nose is vanilla and several honeys, with fudge, apricot and pineapple. The palate brings sultana, toffee and a little smoke, and the finish is long and sweet with warm spice.
