Peat Monster is a blended malt from Compass Box, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and matured in refill American oak. Despite the name, it is not a heavy, towering peated whisky. It is described as delicate and refined, closer to a sea creature than a monster.
The nose is briny, with sea breeze and lemon oil. On the palate it is pleasantly sweet at first, followed by gentle peat smoke and hints of tropical fruit. The finish dries with woody spice.
