This is a 12 year old Craigellachie from Speyside, bottled by Living Souls in 2026 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a first-fill sherry hogshead.
The sherry wood softens Craigellachie's meaty spirit, which is distilled through worm tubs, and adds a rich dessert sweetness over an oily backbone.
The tasting notes read like an Italian patisserie: torta al limone, warm apple compote and caramelised apples, moving into vanilla cannoli, roasted hazelnuts and a light touch of sweet baking spice.
