Craigellachie 17 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside, Banffshire. The distillery was founded in 1891 by Alexander Edward and Peter Mackie and is now owned by Bacardi through John Dewar and Sons. In the glass it is a warm golden amber.
The nose opens with vanilla, treacle and dark honey, then dried pineapple, melon and a faint whiff of earthy smoke.
The palate is oily and full bodied, starting with custard creams and tropical fruit before a meaty depth appears, with clove, ginger, black pepper, dark chocolate and toasted oak. The finish is long, waxy and warming, with smoky sweetness and a hint of tannin.
