This is the first release of Craigellachie 17 Years Old, from 2014, a Speyside single malt bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It has since joined the regular range.
Craigellachie is one of the few remaining distilleries to use worm tub condensers, which is linked to its meaty, heavier spirit.
The nose is pear and apple with a creamy, buttery note, oak spice and a hint of smoke. The palate starts strongly, with spicy, aromatic sweetness, tropical fruit and a creamy texture. The finish is smoky with a hint of pepper.
