Craigellachie – 19 Year Old (70cl)

This is a 19 year old single malt from Craigellachie, a Speyside distillery, in a 70cl bottle. After an initial maturation in a mix of cask types, the whisky was split, with half going into first fill sherry casks and half into first fill bourbon casks. The result is a bold, intense expression of the distillery's style. The nose is intense, with pineapple chunks in syrup, spice and richness, all underpinned by a sulphury backbone. On the palate there is a sweet, biscuity base with a hint of smoke.
