This is a 27 year old Speyside single malt from Craigellachie, released in its Exceptional Cask Series in a 75cl bottle.
It was distilled on 13 April 1993 and spent roughly 25 years in refill and re-charred ex-Bourbon casks. It then had nearly two further years in French Sauternes wine casks.
The nose brings candied pineapple, honeyed apricot and ripe melon, with vanilla, toasted oak, light floral touches and a little sulphur. On the palate there is poached pear, heather honey, candied citrus peel and toasted almonds. The finish is long and warming, with tropical fruit, wax and baking spice.
