CRN57 12 Years is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Gordon & MacPhail, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The new Cairn Distillery lies at 57 degrees north, and this bottling gives an early indication of what to expect from it. It is a vatting of several single malts, and its colour suggests maturation in sherry casks. The nose is rich, with red apple, cinnamon and clove alongside vanilla, orange marmalade and roasted walnuts. The palate starts sweet with raspberry, apple and orange, followed by a little pepper, spice and chocolate. The finish is fruity, with a touch of oak.
