CRN57 is a 40-year-old blended malt Scotch whisky bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 43% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to a series of older blended malts created as a preview of the future single malts of The Cairn, the distillery Gordon & MacPhail opened near Grantown-on-Spey in October 2022. The name refers to The Cairn's position at 57 degrees north, in the Cairngorms National Park.
The nose has rich sherry notes with cinnamon, nutmeg, beeswax, dried fruit and orange peel. The palate is soft and sweet, with dried tobacco, citrus, charred oak, stewed apple, walnut and peppery spice. The finish is long and nutty, with ripe oak and roasted coffee beans.
