Crown Royal is a blended Canadian whisky made at the Gimli Distillery in Manitoba, here in a 200ml bottle at 40% ABV. It brings together more than 50 whiskies distilled from corn, rye and malted barley.
Each component is aged for at least three years in a mix of new and re-used charred oak barrels.
The nose is maple syrup, brown sugar, dark caramel and honey, with baked goods and a little pine tar. The palate is silky and creamy, with vanilla, gentle oak, dried fruit and a chocolate-cherry note. The finish is long, with oak tannins and lingering vanilla sweetness.
