Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old is a Highland single malt from Scotland, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is part of the Classic Malts range.
The spirit is distilled at an altitude of 326 metres, and Dalwhinnie is regarded as the highest distillery in Scotland. Cooler air at that height is said to slow the development of the spirit. The whisky spends 15 years maturing in Oloroso sherry casks.
It is gold in colour. The nose is fresh and spicy, with heather flower, dried fruit and a little peat. On the palate come herbs, heather honey and bourbon vanilla, with some fruit. The finish is long and mild, sweet at first, then turning to peat smoke.
