Dalwhinnie – 15 Year Old Highland Single Malt (43%)

This is a 15 year old Highland single malt from Dalwhinnie, the highest distillery in Scotland. It is described as mild and easy to drink, yet complex, with notes of citrus, malt, flax and gentle smoke. The nose is big, crisp and dry, with aromatic hints of heather and peat. On the palate it is smooth and medium-bodied, with lasting heather honey sweetness and vanilla, followed by deeper citrus fruit and a suggestion of malted bread. The finish is long and lingering, surprisingly intense, beginning with sweetness before giving way to smoke, peat and malt.
