A sample of Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old, a Highland single malt bottled at 43%. It was matured mostly in ex-bourbon oak. Dalwhinnie stands at over 1,150 feet above sea level, which makes it one of the highest distilleries in Scotland.
The nose is clean and aromatic, with heather honey, apple blossom, fresh malt and a distant touch of peat smoke. On the palate it is silky and light, with soft honey, vanilla cream and orchard fruits over a little spice and gentle smoke. The finish is warming and dry, with smoke and malt.
