This is a 30 year old Dalwhinnie bottled at 54.7% as part of Diageo's 2019 Special Releases, where it is the oldest bottling. It matured for over 30 years in refill hogsheads and butts.
The nose is very mild with a slight prickle, showing faintly smoky, vegetal notes of candle wax, the sweetness of heather pollen and freshly planed spiced wood, with pickled ginger behind. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, rich, sweet and waxy with spice, a touch of salt and peppery warmth. The finish is long and spicy, with an earthy note.
