Dalwhinnie – Distillers Edition 2022 Release (70cl)

This is a Dalwhinnie single malt from the Distillers Edition range, distilled in 2006. Each bottling in the range is matured a second time in casks that have held fortified wine, and here the second maturation uses Oloroso sherry casks. The sherry fragrance sits over the heather honey character of the distillery without covering it. In the glass it is pale amber, with a light to medium body. The nose is fresh sherry alongside malty, honeyed notes, still heathery, with some peat and spice. The palate opens with a spicy buzz and clear malt, then a rich grape note. The finish is dry, with oak and vanilla.
