Dalwhinnie – Distillers Edition (70cl, 43%)

This is the Distillers Edition of Dalwhinnie, a Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. The whisky is first matured in used American and European oak casks. It then moves into re-charred American oak casks conditioned with Oloroso, fitted with new, heavily charred American oak ends. This second maturation adds fruity and spicy notes to the honeyed Dalwhinnie style. The Distillers Edition has appeared every year since 1997. The nose combines honey sweetness and light heather with nutty Oloroso notes, banana, pineapple and fresh apricot. The palate is creamy and soft, with warming nutmeg and pepper. The finish is fairly long, sweet and malty, with white pepper and vanilla oak.
