Dalwhinnie – Winter's Gold (70cl, 43%)

A single malt Scotch whisky from Dalwhinnie, Winter's Gold is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is meant to be served straight from the freezer, and is described as assertive, spicy and honeyed, with enough sweetness and character for that. At room temperature the nose has oak spice, pear skins, golden syrup and spicy malt, with a touch of peach and sticky caramel. The palate is very honeyed, with warm spice and plenty of red cinnamon. The finish brings allspice, nutmeg and smoky malt. Chilled, the nose turns fruitier, with green apple, toffee apple, sultana and redcurrant, and the honey on the palate is more restrained.
