This is an independently bottled 10 year old Highland single malt from Deanston, part of the Deerstalker Wild Scotland Collection. It was distilled on 30 March 2011 and matured for over 10 years in a single ex-bourbon cask, giving 245 bottles at a cask strength of 57.5% ABV. The label carries a red squirrel.
The nose brings fresh pastry and apple tart, floral honey and a light oily oak. The palate is sweet, with sugar-glazed cereal, pear tart and cherry pie, plus malty, spicy undertones and a gentle herbal note. The finish is long and warming, with pepper, cloves and dried herbs.
