Deanston – 15 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish (70cl, 52.5%)

This is a 15-year-old Deanston single malt from the Highlands, finished in tequila casks and bottled at 52.5% in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited edition and an experimental one. The whisky was first matured in traditional oak hogsheads, then finished in casks that had held 100% agave tequila from the Jaliscan Highlands in Mexico. The tequila was made from blue agave and the casks had held the same style of spirit for four to five fills, as both Reposado and Añejo. It is described as fruity and floral, with sweet, warming notes. The fruity, floral character of the tequila casks sits alongside Deanston's citrusy, waxy character.
