Deanston – 15 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish (70cl, 52.5%)

This is a 15-year-old Highland single malt from Deanston, bottled at 52.5% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The whisky spent its first 13 years in traditional oak hogsheads. For the last two years it moved into casks that had held agave tequila from the Jalisco highlands in Mexico. It is one of the distillery's experimental editions. The nose is fresh, with ripe pineapple, crème brûlée and mixed nuts over light oak. On the palate it is full and dry, with caramelised agave, toasted almonds, baked apple and vanilla cream alongside warming spice. The finish is long, with brown spices and sweet citrus.
