Deanston Kentucky Oak is a Highland single malt matured in first-fill and second-fill ex-bourbon casks from Kentucky. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle without added colour, and is gently filtered, so it can turn slightly hazy with ice.
Deanston makes it from unpeated malt at its distillery on the River Teith near Doune, in a former cotton mill.
Honey and sweet barley meet almonds and soft fruit on the nose, with a touch of crème brûlée. The palate recalls butterscotch and American vanilla cream soda, with sweet oak and light cinnamon. The finish is long, with sweet barley and oak.
