Deanston – Virgin Oak Cask Finish (70cl, 46.3%)

Deanston Virgin Oak is a Highland single malt matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished for nine to twelve months in new American oak that has held no other spirit. The finish adds sweet oak and light spice to the distillery's citrus, waxy character. Honey, vanilla, candied orange, orange oil and caramel shape the flavour, and the texture is creamy. It is bottled at 46.3% ABV without chill-filtration or added colour, and its golden amber tone comes from the casks. Tasting notes describe pronounced new oak, lemon peel, barley sugar, apple and nutmeg on the nose. The palate is sweet, with candied fruit, vanilla toffee and heather honey, and the finish leaves light spice, honeyed malt and sweet oak.
