Deanston – Virgin Oak Highland Single Malt (46.3%)

Deanston Virgin Oak is a Highland single malt from the distillery in the southern Highlands. It matured mainly in first-fill American casks, then spent nine to twelve months finishing in fresh virgin oak casks. It is bottled at 46.3% with natural colour and without chill-filtering. Deanston sits on the River Teith in a former cotton mill, converted to a distillery in 1966. The nose offers vanilla, citrus and caramel, with green apple and nutmeg from the malt. The palate is sweet, with candied fruit, vanilla, caramel and heather honey. The finish is lightly spiced and honeyed, easing into soft oak.
