291 Colorado Straight Rye Whiskey Barrel Proof is a Father's Day release from Distillery 291, bottled at 63.5% ABV from Batch 2, an outturn of 699 bottles. Owner and founding distiller Michael Myers describes the release as a tribute to his two sons. The rye spent three years in deep-charred, new American white oak barrels. The nose is rich with caramel and toffee, leather and pipe tobacco, cinnamon and clove, and hints of toasted oak and aspen. The palate is viscous, led by clove, toffee, tobacco and toasted oak, with a warming black pepper note and returning caramel into a long, pleasant finish.
