Funky Drummer is a Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask rye whiskey, a blend of two five-year-old ryes distilled at MGP and then finished in Jamaican rum casks. It is bottled at 52.65% abv in a 75cl bottle. The two mash bills are 95% rye with 5% malted barley, and 45% corn, 51% rye and 4% malted barley. This is batch 22-0013.
The rum casks are said to bring tropical fruit that sits alongside the firm rye spice, and the whisky spent a long time in them to bring the flavours together.
The tasting notes list pineapple, banana syrup, Fuji apple, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and plenty of vanilla.
