Scallywag is a Speyside blended malt from Douglas Laing, launched in 2013. Its name comes from a line of Douglas Laing family Fox Terriers, and the dog on the packaging is Binks, the family's pup.
The blend includes malts distilled at Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes, among others, and is matured in 40% first-fill ex-Sherry butts and 60% ex-Bourbon casks. It is spicy but sweet, with notes of vanilla, Christmas pudding, dark chocolate, nutmeg and cinnamon.
