This is a 25 year old single cask Glenrothes from Speyside, bottled by Douglas Laing in its Xtra Old Particular range. It was distilled in 1997 and bottled at a cask strength of 45.9%, producing 189 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose opens with early honey, home baking, toasted oak and sweet barley. The palate is viscous and sweet, with roasted hazelnut and warm baking spices. The finish is long, with burnt citrus zest and a touch of orange liqueur.
